The PlantWorx Innovation Awards recognise and celebrate those innovative companies, products and services that have made a major impact in the construction equipment industry.

Open to all PlantWorx exhibitors' and CEA members – the Awards are given to the most innovative products introduced to the UK market since September 2023 (after the last PlantWorx). Judged by an independent panel of industry experts, the Awards are an accolade to the very best in plant, construction machinery, support products and applications.

2025 Award Categories and Criteria

All entries must be new to the market and readily available, not in prototype or concept form. Eligible products or initiatives should have launched or become available since September 2023, following the last PlantWorx event. This requirement ensures that each entry represents current, applicable solutions that are actively making an impact in the industry.

UPDATED - Excellence in Workforce Development 

(formerly Training & Skills Development) 

Recognises exceptional efforts in training, skills development, or career progression within the construction industry. Entries might include programs for apprentices, training schemes, or initiatives for upskilling employees. Entrants should detail the long-term benefits of the development programme for participants and the company, highlighting how it contributes to a more skilled workforce and improves client service.

UPDATED - Best Use of Engineering & Technology Innovation

MachineMaxThis award recognises products, machinery, services, or solutions that incorporate engineering, technology, design, and digital advancements to improve construction processes, making them faster, more efficient, reliable, or precise. Entries may include innovations in machinery, equipment, software, automation, digital tools, data analytics, connectivity, or site design that address industry challenges. Solutions should demonstrate measurable improvements in productivity, reduced downtime, streamlined workflows, or optimised resource use, contributing to a more effective and well-designed construction environment.

2023 Runner Up: Auger Torque – Cone Crusher Bucket

This award recognises projects, products, or practices that make a meaningful impact on environmental sustainability within construction. Eligible entries may include innovations in sustainable materials, waste reduction, recycling initiatives, energy-efficient designs, or methods that lower emissions and conserve resources. Solutions focused on sustainable construction processes, circular economy practices, or renewable energy integration are also encouraged. Entries should clearly outline the environmental benefits and demonstrate how they support greener construction practices, contributing to both immediate site improvements and broader industry sustainability goals.

Safety Innovation

SpillardThis award recognises solutions that elevate safety standards on construction sites, safeguarding both personnel and equipment. Entries may include innovations that reduce risks, prevent accidents, improve machinery and process safety, or create safer site environments. Solutions could range from protective equipment and monitoring systems to safety protocols, training tools, or technologies that enhance situational awareness and hazard detection. Judges will prioritise practical and effective safety measures with a demonstrable, positive impact on overall site safety and wellbeing.

Security Initiative

2023 WINNER: Digger Guard – Vandal Guard

This award recognises solutions that focus on protecting, securing, and recovering valuable assets on construction sites. This includes products or methods to prevent theft, safeguard equipment, secure materials, and control unauthorised access. Entries should demonstrate how the solution improves asset security, ensures regulatory compliance, or brings peace of mind to site managers by protecting against potential risks. Judges will assess the effectiveness, ease of implementation, and overall security it brings to the construction environment, ensuring it offers robust, practical, and reliable asset protection.

Non-operated Plant and Support Products

2023 WINNER: Elite GSS – Hi-Vis Ballast Block

2023 Runner Up: Hydrotechnik – Minimess® Monster

This award category recognises non-operated plant, tools, and essential support products or services that play a crucial role in advancing construction operations without requiring an operator. Covering a wide range of innovations—from new components and tools to practical solutions—this category is intended for entries that may not fit other award criteria but still deliver substantial on-site value. Submissions should show how the product or service increases productivity, improves reliability, and provides essential support for equipment or personnel, ultimately allowing for smoother workflows and reducing downtime.

NEW - Best Marketing Campaign Supporting PlantWorx 2025

For marketing campaigns that effectively promote PlantWorx 2025, raising awareness, engagement, or participation. Entries should detail the campaign’s goals, key messages, reach, and creative elements that helped engage the target audience. Judges will look for campaigns that communicate the value of PlantWorx in a way that resonates with the audience and achieves measurable results.

NEW - Alternative Power Innovation

This category is for products or systems using alternative power sources, such as batteries, hydrogen, or other non-traditional fuels, to power machinery, equipment, or support generators in ways that reduce environmental impact. This category welcomes entries from genset manufacturers who provide innovative solutions that contribute to cleaner and more efficient construction operations. Entries should explain the benefits of the alternative power source and its practicality for on-site use.

Onsite Awards

At Plantworx 2025, there will be onsite awards for exhibitors and contractors who make a big impact on the onsite judges, who will evaluate companies' stands, demonstration areas, and contributions to the event. The awards will be presented at the Innovation Awards ceremony on the evening of the first day of the event.

Judges will look for exceptional stands that are welcoming, innovative, and thoughtfully designed, as well as contractors who go above and beyond in their site contributions. Winners will be celebrated for their efforts and recognised as leaders in delivering outstanding exhibition experiences.
