Tested in real-world applications in association with the Tier one contractor Kier Group, the 3D collision avoidance solution was officially launched by Flannery at its Operator Skills Hub in Birmingham, a joint venture with Balfour Beatty plc Beatty. This product launch marks a significant milestone in the Xwatch and Leica Geosystems collaboration.
Chris Matthew, Flannery’s Head of Business Strategy, offered deeper insights into this innovative safety solution during its launch event. This breakthrough technology, resulting from a partnership between Xwatch and Leica Geosystems, permits users to create or import 3D avoidance zones directly into the Leica Geosystems MC1 3D machine control software.
Key to this innovative solution is its seamless integration into the existing MC1 tablet-based machine control from Leica Geosystems, thereby offering users a streamlined interface without the need for additional screens in the operator station.
Feedback from operators suggests that this cutting-edge solution, born out of Xwatch and Leica’s collaborative efforts, provides an added layer of security, enabling them to detect unseen hazards like underground utilities.
