Site Sustainability showcase to debut at PlantWorx 2025

Located next to the Recharge Café meeting hub, sponsored by DF Capital, the Showcase will include examples of alternative power generation, off-grid welfare, telematics and emissions data, and the latest electric and hydrogen-powered machinery, all presented as part of an integrated site set-up.

Flannery is bringing a 20-tonne electric LiuGong excavator. Plantforce will supply a hydrogen-hybrid excavator and a mobile hydrogen refuelling unit. City Lifting will demonstrate a plug-in hybrid truck-mounted crane, and Explore Plant & Transport Solutions will be showing an Ammann electric roller and Faresin telehandler. Templant Rental will provide a Stage V generator mounted on a delivery truck, ready to connect to ProCharge, and Instagrid will support portable power with battery systems designed for tools and small equipment. Speedy Powered Access will showcase a hydrogen articulated boom lift, and Hiboo, via Halomec, will deliver a mixed fleet telematics platform for monitoring usage and emissions across the site.

Prolectric’s solar and battery systems will power much of the setup, with their ProPower and ProCharge units supporting welfare, charging and compact machinery. Live data and practical examples will help visitors see how these technologies are already being used to keep worksites running cleaner and smarter.

The CPA’s Decarbonisation & Sustainability Manager, Luis Bassett, will be based in the Showcase throughout the event. Speaking ahead of PlantWorx, he said:

“We’re showcasing equipment and systems that are already in use or available now — with a focus on how they can be used on sites. We’re also being clear about the barriers that remain, whether it’s infrastructure, site constraints or the current availability of alternatives. The CPA supports a technology-neutral approach and we believe that diesel still plays a key role on many sites, but there are ways that we can reduce the amount of diesel used. This is about understanding how and where low-emission options work, without dismissing the realities our members are facing today.”

In the lead-up to the event, the PlantWorx team is hosting a practical, no-nonsense webinar titled “Alternative Power on Site” on Tuesday 15th July at 12:30pm. The session will explore how alternative fuels and low-carbon power sources are being deployed on-site — and what it takes to make these solutions commercially viable at scale. Hosted by industry journalist Peter Haddock, the webinar will cover real-world applications of hydrogen, HVO, battery-electric machinery, solar lighting towers and hybrid generators, with insight from those leading the change. Speakers include Dan Thompson, Managing Director – Power & Energy at Speedy Hire; Luis Bassett, Decarbonisation & Sustainability Manager at the CPA; Amanda Lyne, Managing Director of ULEMCo Ltd; David Bryce from IPU Group, representing AMPS; and Owen Pearson, Innovation Lead at Prolectric.

Throughout the show, the Showcase will also host dedicated briefings for government bodies, regulators, local authorities and environmental organisations — helping set realistic expectations and ensuring policymakers understand the challenges and opportunities on the ground.

Discussions are ongoing with several other organisations, and confirmation is expected from more suppliers who will broaden the Showcase even further to include welfare provision, battery energy storage, fuel alternatives, tool charging solutions and compact electric machinery.

The Site Sustainability Showcase will run for all three days of PlantWorx 2025, taking place 23rd–25th September at Newark Showground.
