Diggerland UK is bringing a taste of its famous construction-themed fun to PlantWorx 2025, with hands-on digger challenges that promise to be a hit with visitors of all ages. At stand GB-01, guests can jump into the seat of a mini digger and test their skills on crowd-favourites Dippy Ducks and Skittles – all free to try throughout the show.
In Dippy Ducks, players use the digger’s custom attachment to hook floating ducks from a water-filled pond – a test of skill that’s trickier than it looks. Skittles puts hand–eye coordination to the test, as visitors line up the machine to knock over giant pins in as few moves as possible. Both attractions are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all ages, offering a taste of the authentic Diggerland experience in a fun, interactive way.
While PlantWorx is the UK’s largest working construction exhibition in 2025, with more than 300 exhibitors and 12,000 visitors expected, it’s also an event with a strong focus on skills and education. Diggerland’s challenges will support the Rethinking Futures initiative and the dedicated PlantWorx Student Day, giving young people and students the chance to get hands-on with real machinery and spark interest in future careers in plant, engineering and construction.
Thursday 25th September is Student Day at PlantWorx – and everyone’s welcome.
Whether you're studying construction, exploring career options, or simply curious about the industry, Student Day is open to all schools, colleges, training providers, youth groups – and families. There’s no age restriction, and mums and dads are also very welcome (please note that an adult must accompany children under 16). With live machine demos, hands-on exhibits, and the chance to speak with apprentices and industry professionals, it’s a practical and engaging way to discover if a career in construction and engineering is an option.
PlantWorx Student Day (Thursday 25th September only) will also feature a Student Trail, which is open to all ages. The trail will guide visitors around the showground, highlighting key exhibitors and demonstrations while encouraging participants to explore different aspects of the industry. Whether it’s a child fascinated by diggers, a student looking at apprenticeships, or a graduate interested in advanced technology, the trail offers a fun and inspiring way to connect with the world of construction, plant, and engineering.
Adding to the excitement, Diggerland will welcome 13-year-old Finlay Gallagher – the UK’s youngest qualified CPCS backhoe loader operator – to its stand on day one of the show. Finlay will take part in a friendly challenge with content creator Lucas Haddock at 12:30pm on Tuesday 23rd September. The showdown promises to be a social media highlight and is set to draw a big crowd to GB-01.
Diggerland was founded by entrepreneur Hugh Edeleanu, who is also Chairman of H. E. Services, one of Europe’s largest specialist excavator hire companies. Since opening its first park in Kent in 2000, Diggerland has grown into a unique family attraction, giving children and adults the chance to safely get behind the controls of real diggers and construction machinery. Diggerland also has parks in Devon, Durham and Yorkshire.
PlantWorx takes place from 23–25 September 2025 at Newark Showground. Alongside Diggerland’s attractions, the event will feature live demonstrations, product launches and cutting-edge technology from across the construction equipment sector.
