New concept from Rototilt® provides the excavator operator with more control
The latest investment from Rototilt®, Rototilt Control, promises better operability, increased energy efficiency and new technology in the cab. The concept, which involves a new tiltrotator series, a new control system, new joysticks, and an app for remote support, will be launched for the first time in the UK at Plantworx.
“Demands for new technology, operability and user friendliness are growing ever higher. Rototilt Control is our response to the growing needs we are witnessing on the market. Above all, what we are hearing from the end users themselves,” explains product manager Caroline Jonsson.
The common theme for all upcoming product launches is, as the name Rototilt Control suggests, control for the excavator operator. For Rototilt’s tiltrotator set-up, the RC series entails greater precision in the utilisation of the tiltrotator’s functions.
Future-proof
The display in the RC System has been given a new design, developed in collaboration with a product design agency, and has been tested by Rototilt alongside real end-users. It has a new touch screen and allows the user to operate the SecureLock™ safety lock directly in the display with just two presses of a button. Along with other products, Rototilt is also launching a new mobile app that facilitates the remote support of tiltrotators in the RC series through service providers and dealers.
“Rototilt Control has been developed as a complete system. RC Joysticks, the user display in RC System and the pressure-compensated hydraulics in RC Tiltrotators deliver greater precision than all our previous systems. The overall package will be perceived as much more agile, as it provides the user with complete control over the excavation movement,” says Caroline.
The upgraded tiltrotators will be available for owners of excavators weighing between 10-43 tonnes. One new feature is that anyone who chooses a tiltrotator without the fully automatic quick coupler system QuickChange™ will have the opportunity to retrofit this should their needs change in the future.
Award-winning joysticks
Through field tests involving both male and female machine operators, as well as close collaboration with leading product designers in this area, Rototilt’s objective has been to develop handles that are suitable for a wide range of hand sizes without compromising on fit. Thanks to a digital keypad, they also provide scope for future adaptations in relation to the machine. According to Caroline, the things that users will notice most clearly are the patented angle adjustment and the palm rest.
Rototilt has now also won two international and prestigious design awards for its joysticks – the Red Dot Award 2023 and the iF Design Award 2023.
"We are incredibly proud and grateful to be awarded these awards," says Product Manager Caroline Jonsson. "Our main goal is of course to increase the working environment for the users, but this is further proof that we are on the right track with this type of design process."
